Using "Twitter" as a word.

A  word can change over time and in context when something new and hot comes along.

Now it's a noun/verb referring to an article or something you do on a blog or social site.

The word tweet was more commonly referred to a chirping bird sound, but now, tweet is also a noun/verb depending on context in reference to a 140 character text you create on Twitter.

Tweet in use:

• Tweet as a noun: "Did you see that tweet from Demi Moore (aka @mrskutcher) about the celebrity she's be most excited about meeting?"

• Tweet as a verb: "That is hilarious! I will tweet about the dog chewing mom's snuggie."

Normalmente pasan años antes de que la RAE acepte una palabra o un verbo y las propuestas para su aplicación y escritura en el idioma son variadas, es por esto que el debate esta abierto, solo nos quedara esperar la decisión  final.

Esta es una de tantas propuestas para la RAE:

Tuitero/a (autor/a), tuitear (verbo), tuit / tuiteo (mensaje) y retuiteo (reenvío).

Si se acepta esta propuesta, los usuarios hispanohablantes de Twitter ya no “twittearán” más, ni mucho menos “tuitiarán”, sino que “tuitearán”. 

Sin embargo mientras esto sucede debemos seguir en español la siguiente regla:

 Twitter, como nombre propio de la red social, debe escribirse así, con mayúscula inicial, w y doble t, ya que es una marca registrada.

Definiciones no oficiales en Español:

Twitter significa gorjear, parlotear, trinar ( de ahí su logo), es un servicio gratuito de microblogging o nanoblogging que permite a sus usuarios enviar pequeñas entradas o micro-entradas de texto.

Retweets- tweet reenviado por una segunda persona que se hace eco del tweet de otro usuario.

Retwitear- reenviar un tweet.

Twittear- Acciones de mandar mensajes o actualizar tu estado en Twitter.

Tweets- entradas o mensajes que tienen una longitud máxima de 140 caracteres

Twitters o Twitteros- Fanáticos o usuarios normales de Twitter

Twitlonger- Aplicación para ‘twitear’ fácilmente con más de 140 caracteres
